UX Director at Google
It’s no simple task for a design team to build a design system, but crafting a more customizable system and sharing it with adopters you’ll never meet presents a whole new world of challenges. Using Google’s Material Design system as a case study, we’ll look at how the work of creating a design system changes with scale: serving more distributed design and development teams, being adopted by both internal and external audiences, and encouraging richer customization.
Rich Fulcher is a UX Director at Google. He leads the team responsible for the design, development, and tooling for Material Design. He previously worked on Android apps and framework, and has designed consumer experiences for TiVo, Sirius, Dell, and AOL.
