Predictive analytics has been hailed as one of the most powerful weapons for fighting competitors today. Hundreds of pieces of content are published daily on today’s data-driven companies and the power of being able to predict future phenomenons. But those are just articles – what about in reality?

Honza created his own automated predictive product analytics system for online retailers. However, he quickly realized that most Czech e-shops simply weren’t ready for predictive models. Many companies are struggling to make sense of predictive technology and can still manage to gain a competitive advantage without it. They often lack data, people, and a readiness to change their current processes.

Other teams have also drawn the same conclusions as Honza’s team. As a result, Honza has had the unique opportunity of being able to show the deployment of predictive models from many different perspectives. How many companies are still in pre-predictive states? What differentiates unsuccessful applications from the ones making headlines?

Honza’s presentations have a reputation for being relaxed. You can expect a short introduction about predictions, a distinctive look at current trends, and true stories about his own unexpected successes (and failures).

Jan MayerHonza started out as a satellite hardware developer for the Czech Space Research Center. But these days, both his feet are firmly on the ground, and he’s fully focused on data analytics. He currently leads the developers at Dataweps, co-organizes DataConf, and gives lectures on Ruby and data handling at Masaryk University. He also plays around with product market predictions at his new startup, TrendLucid, a market evaluation engine that helps eCommerce owners discover new trends.
