  • What is the talk about?

Flavius: We have learned how to build software: Extreme Programming gave us the developer tools and Scrum the project management tools. But we are still investing a lot of money in our ideas and most of them fail. 9 out of 10 startups are unsuccessful. Why is that? One reason is that we still make assumptions about our users' needs. Repeat after me: "I am not my user!"

This talk will discuss about minimum viable products, validated learning and continuous deployment: how to write the minimum amount of code that can teach us something about the user and only then developing the full feature (instead of waiting to have the perfect feature that maybe nobody wants).

  • Who is it for?

Flavius: Teams tired of writing features that nobody uses. CEOs and product managers that want to maximize the return on their investment.

  • What will the audience get from it?

Flavius: Design your features as experiments to help you learn what the user really wants. Gain the ability to tweak your product and deploy it multiple times a day -- every time a better version.

  • What do you presently work at?

Flavius: I'm currently working with teams to improve their performance, collaboration, skills and products. I do this by helping them adopt or improve their current processes. The tools we are working with are Scrum, Lean Startup, Extreme Programming, Kanban and Systems Thinking.

I'm also one of the organizers of the Timisoara Agile Meetup Group, and one of the organizers of various conferences such as OpenAgile Romania, I TAKE and ALE.

  • Which of your existing achievements do you value the most?

Flavius: 1) Syneto: A startup I co-founded five years ago in Romania that works in the network security and data storage fields.

    2) The 500+ people I have worked with in the last years in my current position.

  • What would you like to achieve?

Flavius: I would like to spread as much as possible a few key messages I believe in: incremental delivery, technical excellence, teamwork and product experimentation.

  • What do you look forward to at the WebExpo?

Flavius: Getting in touch with a new community, sharing my experiences and learning from others AND visiting Prague.
